Wanting To Hear But Not Practice

I hope with this blog post that I can encourage someone today with this message, I know I am encouraged by it myself. I have some areas in my life where I want to hear from God, and I do through sermons in church and his word and the Holy Spirit, but there are somethings that I have not put into practice yet. Well that is about to change and I hope it will change with you if there is an area in your life that this pertains to.

How many of you can be honest and say that you as well in some, a few, or all areas of you life you love to hear from God through his word or sermons etc but you do not practice what the word says? (Insert me rasing my hand) Lets look at Ezekiel again, how many times did Ezekiel speak to Judah and Judah’s neighbors like Egypt and some ignored him and others listened but did not put it into practice. ultimately the finally comes (Ezekiel 3:21). Now the shepherds of Israel only looked after themselves, they did not take care of the flock or strengthen those who were weak. (Ezekiel 34:1-14)

How many of us go to church on sunday and hear a good word preached by our pastor and then when monday comes and during the week we do not practice those beliefs or what we learned in church the sunday before? How many talk to your children about what was learned in church and read to them the bible, but yet your words do not match up with what you practice, or is contrary to your beliefs and what you are teaching them? Let’s follow Daniels example and not only have faith in God but put it into practice as well. Let’s talk about Daniel for a second, in Daniel chapters 1-3 Daniel chose not to defile himself with the royal food and wine. Then  when the king decreed that everyone bow down and worship the image of gold. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused, they not only believed in God and trusted in him but they put that faith and belief into practice.

They bowed only to God and served only God not idols and images of gold, they risked their life and stayed loyal to him. God protected them in return (Daniel 3:17-27). So I encourage you sister and brothers to not just believe and have faith in God. But to put that belief and faith into practice. When God says not to let any corrupt talk come out of your mouth, then uplift and edify others, speak kindly of others. When he says to help the poor, then do not look down on the homeless and just merely walk past them on the street. Help them, give them your last $20 or the money you were going to spend on sweets you do not need, instead buy them some fruit or some food. Do not use the excuse I do not have cash, go into the store and use that credit card you were going to use and get them some food.

There are so many ways to put Gods word in to practice daily we just have to be bold enough, to live out that faith and belief in private and in the public, even if we get ridiculed or called holier than thou for it.

Daniel preached a sermon  with his life, let that sink in for a  minute. Read the whole book of Daniel and you will see why I say that. A lot of times our children and others learn about God by our behavior, our life, basically what we display our witness teaches them about the God we speak of. to many you, let me repeat to many YOU are the only bible they see. So what are witnessing to others? Is your witness to others showing that you know Gods word and can speak it but not practice it with you life and actions? I know for me  as the song states, I am going to ” Dare to be a Daniel” (Hoover, Kirk, Tiegreen, 2012).

God Bless You

Keep Going!

“To go through the hardest journey, take one step at a time, but in God’s strength keep on stepping” (Daily Walk Bible)

There are a lot of people in the bible who you can say has had a journey or a hard journey. When reading my bible called The Daily Walk Bible, it gives you a devotional or something to think about with a quote each day. These quotes and devotionals/something to think about are always in line with the selected chapters you are reading for that day. The above quote came from this bible while I was reading about Ezekiel’s journey. God tasked Ezekiel to go and tell Judahs the end for them has come, but at the end God say’s he will bring the land of Israel back again (11:17). Essentially Ezekiel’s journey was a hard one, he has to tell Judah of the destruction the Lord is about to bring upon them as well as give them hope because the Lord will bring them back.

Judah is a people who are to say it in three terms a tough crowd. In other words they are “hard of hearing, callous, and in different to the message” (Hoover, Kirk, Tiegreen, 2012). Although the people of Judah was a “tough Crowd”, Ezekiel did  the Lord told him to do anyway. Yes we can only imagine how hard the journey was to bring the message of destruction as well as the message of hope. Although God is going to unleash his anger on Judah who have done some detestable practices, because they are a wayward people he also states that he will bring the land of Israel back again (11:17).

My point is to encourage you through the journey or race you have right now. We are are running a race right.

Hebrews 12:1-2 states “Therefore, since we  are surrounded by such a great cloud of witness. Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles . And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” NIV

I’m sure there are people who are discouraging, or you may not have the support of some family members and friends. You also amy feel alone and want to give up, or possibly doubt that this is what God called you to do.  I am here to tell you that “Ezekiel means God strengthens” (Hoover, Kirk, Tiegreen, 2012). So I encourage you to KEEP GOING. Lean on him our rock and lease my sister and or brother KEEP GOING!

God Bless You

Quote of The Day

“Never be yoked to the one who refuses the yoke of Christ.” -Your Daily Walk Devotional

It is so important to be equally yoked especially when married. How hard it must be, to be In an unequally yoked marriage.

“Confession without change is just a game”. – My Daily Walk bible

Repentance is confessing the sin and forsaking that sin. Not confession and then no change.

” if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”. – 1 John 1:19

A Little Encouragement

“The faintest whisper of encouragement uttered to a Christian brother or sister is heard in heaven.”- Daily Walk Bible KJV

To my brother and sister in Christ no matter what storm you are facing you are not a lone! Whatever is going on in yiur life right now it won’t last forever even though it may seem like it will. God said he will never leave or forsake us. He is there with you even if it’s hard for you to feel his presence.

Remember “No weapon that is formed against the shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me saith the Lord.” – Isaiah 54:17 KJV

So pray without ceasing and call on other believers to bear some of your burden and ask them to pray for you. We are told to bear one another’s burdens in Galatians 6:2 So call on that believer that you can trust and most importantly Jesus burden is light so definitely give it to him and HAVE FAITH.

Your Thoughts Are Important

Our thoughts are important, so important that Satan uses them to insert his lies. He knows are mind is powerful and if he can get us to think lowly of ourselves, believe his lies and think impure things, he has us.

Proverbs 23:7 says ” For as he thinks within himself, so is he.” NKJV

So if you think you won’t get that job, your poor, your worthless that is what you become. What you think ultimately travels to your heart. Just like words are powerful so are your thoughts and you have to fight back with the word of God. God thinks so highly of you that he gave his only begotten son as a living sacrifice for you. Jesus DIED FOR YOU! He SUFFERED FOR YOU so you wouldn’t have to.

Romans 8:6 ” For the mind is set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace.” NKJV

When you think your worthless or other fleshly or undesirable things, have you noticed you that you don’t feel happy or joyful even when you hang out with your friends? That’s because when your mind is set to think on things that are not good or positive or noble it brings death and destruction.

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, Brethren, whatever is true, whatever is Honorable, whatever is righ,  whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there  is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”

It’s important to meditate on Gods word daily, Pray without ceasing and be careful of what you watch and listen to. Ultimately what you watch and listen to you will dwell on. For an example If your listening to secular music a song about heartbreak and what that man did to you. You will dwell on, how can you be healed if you keep you mind on your heart break. What room do you lave for God to heal your heart? That’s why you should be careful of what you listen to and watch. You will dwell on the things that you give your attention to on a daily basis. when you dwell on God and his word it brings peace and life.

That doesn’t mean you won’t struggle or go through trials but it means God will be there, he will be your strength. Don’t take my word for it read the Bible for yourself, pray, and fast. Ask God to reveal it you.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Second Corinthians 12:9
